Great...my son is now considered to be an early term delivery in the U.S rather than an "on time" delivery because he was born a week shy of 39 weeks. Luckily, he was born in Sweden where he still considered to be born on time and in full term.
I love how it's implied that he will have medical problems too because of this. Let me say this...my labor was brought on naturally at 38 weeks without inducing. I was in labor for 27 hours before I finally gave birth. When I gave birth, it was a natural childbirth (no drugs were assisting me with a pain though I inhaled Nitrious Oxide between pushes, but NOTHING to dim the pain). I don't fucking appreciate how my son is considered early term and may have health issues because U.S doctors are trying to curb c-sections before 39 weeks when many of them try to press it on other women in the first place.
You don't have to have special catagories about delivery when you give women a book during pregnancy explaining childbirth to them, which would include that elective c-sections aren't a wise idea because it is riskier than regular natural childbirth. Not to mention, you cannot sue a doctor if something goes wrong with the c-section since you have to sign a waiver to have one unlike if something goes wrong with a natural childbirth. I mean...my midwife in Sweden (before anyone says it, keep in mind I'm a U.S citizen...not a Swede who has no clue about the U.S or how the healthcare system there works) gave me a book about childbirth and pregnancy. It fucking says in that book what I just said above where elective c-sections are advised against as they are riskier and it's invasive surgery.
I mean, while I was afraid of the pain of the childbirth, I did NOT want a c-section because of that and would only get one as a last resort. Luckily, there was no last resort. C-sections, as the article and the book the midwife gave me say, should only be used if there's a major complication.
And yes, while every birth is different, doing these catagories is just another fucking way to make Americans more paranoid if everything will go well with their baby's delivery.
