I figured I comment rather than remark about my thoughts in the post.
Doctors say the girl's life and that of the fetus are at high risk. But in Chile, ending the pregnancy is not an option.
Chile allowed abortions for medical reasons until they were outlawed in 1973 by Gen. Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. The current government of conservative President Sebastian Pinera has opposed any loosening of the prohibition. I'll say it once and I will say it again. What the ever loving fuck is the logic behind denying a woman an abortion if her life is in danger? Especially when you have doctors say that her life as well as the fetus' life is at high risk?
And I have a remark about Pinochetshit's dictatorship too, but I will do it after I remark about this comment: "The Senate has voted in favor of life, of the unborn child, a policy the government has defended," Cristian Larroulet, a top presidential aide, said after one of the votes. It's not in favor of life. If you all really gave two shits about life, you would: A) Let this girl have an abortion so she won't die, which will give her a chance to have kids in the future if she wants to B) Allow one to die rather than two since the fetus will die too if the girl dies (people being against abortion in this case always seem to miss this) C) Are defending a policy that a blood thirsty dictator and his administration made, which was completely ironic considering they had no fucking qualms about having people murdered who thought differently than he did (my SO's SIL's bio parents being two of them)
