One of the first things that anti-choice politicians did when they took over Virginia after the last election was launch the War on Women. Now, their campaign to shut down the majority of women’s health centers that provide abortion care in that state is about to become law.
We cannot let the extreme anti-choice politicians continue to attack Virginia women’s right to choose without a fight. Sign our petition to Gov. Bob McDonnell today.
Our colleagues at NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia have led the charge to stop Gov. McDonnell and his anti-choice allies. They have organized lobby days. They are getting major news outlets like The Rachel Maddow Show to cover the attacks. They organized hundreds of people to speak out at public hearings. I can tell you our affiliate has left no stone unturned to stop the anti-choice McDonnell administration.
In less than two weeks, NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is taking its fight to the state capital in Richmond – and we need to help them have maximum impact. Our affiliate has collected thousands of petitions. Let’s make it tens of thousands. Add your name today by October 13.
Gov. McDonnell’s new policy is mean-spirited anti-choice politics. His hand-picked Board of Health just approved some of the worst restrictions in the entire nation that will govern all of the state’s women’s health centers that provide abortion care. These rules will single out abortion providers and subject them to onerous, non-health-related requirements that have nothing to do with serving patients, and could force health centers to shut down.
Virginia’s 21 abortion providers already adhere to strict medical standards and take the health of their clients very seriously. But the Board and the McDonnell administration were not interested in protecting women’s health.
